peanut butter choc chip basic brownies


When you get home with aching feet and a total sadface, you need to cook something reassuring and delicious. These brownies are the gooiest EVER and perfect for those times.

This made about 10 brownies.

You'll need:
some cheering up
125g self raising flour
200g caster sugar
65g dark cocoa powder
pinch of salt
2 tbsp melted soya butter
2 tbsp water
1 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp chunky peanut butter
a handful (or more) of dark chocolate chips

Stir together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder and salt. Pour in the melted soya butter, water and vegetable oil and stir until gooey. Add the peanut butter and choc chips.

Spread it into a suitable pan and bake for 25 minutes or so at 350F/ 175 C until it's not shiny on top anymore. Leave for 10 minutes or so to cool down and then cut and pig out.

Hello!

I have just found your website, which is fantastic!! I was searching for something to make for a friend of mine who is lactose allergic, so your cakey recipes are just the thing!

I made these brownies this afternoon, but they didn't turn out anything like your picture. The mix was very crumby - like when you make pastry or crumble topping, and has baked very solid in the middle, whilst the top is still crumbly!

I checked and re-checked the recipe before I put it in the oven, but didn't miss anything out! Am I doing something wrong? It just felt like there was very little liquid in the mix!

Fairly new to vegan baking so it might be that I just don't have the knack!!

Hi there!! I just found your website and I already adore it! I was wondering about the chocolate in your recipes. I'm newly vegan and was under the impression that chocolate isn't. Where do you find yours? Is there a certain type of brand you use? Thanks for the great recipes!!

Hi Marie! Oh there is SO much chocolate that you can have! I'm not sure if you're in the uk or not...the Divine brand's dark chocolate is vegan, as is the Lindt one I think. Just check the ingredients on packs of dark choc and as long as there's no dairy you're pretty much good to go! xx
